Chapter 17. Working with Frames > Working with Inline Frames (I-Frames)

Working with Inline Frames (I-Frames)

Originally introduced by Internet Explorer 3.0, I-Frames—inline, or floating frames—have been officially adopted as an HTML 4.0 standard. This is good news because they're very effective when put to appropriate use. The bad news, however, is that they aren't supported by Netscape 4.61. Whether 5.0 will support them is anybody's guess at this writing.

I-Frames work a bit differently than standard frames do. First, you don't create a separate frameset for the frame. You place the I-Frame information directly inline any standard HTML page.
