Troubleshooting

Using Licensed Images

Q1:Can I use images from The Simpsons on my site?
A1: This becomes a question of copyright law versus fair use. If you are using one image from The Simpsons to illustrate a point you are making in your content—and if you are not making a profit from your discussion of The Simpsons—your use of the image might fall under fair use. If your site is merely a re-hashing of jokes and images from the show, this is copyright infringement, even if your site is not for-profit. The best bet in every case is to get permission.

Permission to Link

Q1:Can I link to any site I choose?
A1: To be a good Internet citizen, you should always ask for permission before linking to someone else's site. Nine times out of ten, the designer of the other site will be honored to be asked. Others might request that you not link to them, however, because their hits are metered or for other legitimate reasons. Don't take a refusal personally; just find another site to which to link.
