Troubleshooting

Fumbling Fingers

Q1:Illustrator seems to be a difficult program to use. Is this my imagination or reality?
A1: Illustrator can indeed take some getting used to. Some readers will have Illustrator experience, but many will not. If you do not, don't let the precision of Illustrator frustrate you. Learning to get things just right does take time. The main objective of the lessons in this chapter is to expose you to methods of creating exceptional type for your pages, whether you choose to use Illustrator to do it or not.

Other Vector Graphic Programs with Typographic Support

Q1:Are there other vector programs with the extensive typographic support available in Adobe Illustrator?
A1: If you're a fan of Macromedia products, try Freehand. Another option is CorelDRAW. Both are vector graphic illustration programs. I prefer Adobe Illustrator and consider it the standard. Many professional graphic designers are familiar with Freehand and CorelDRAW as well, and each individual will naturally have a preference. All of these products are available for demo purposes by visiting the respective Web sites of their developers.
