Chapter 29. Graphic Type for the Web > Attaching URLs to Objects

Attaching URLs to Objects

A path or group of objects in Illustrator can be automatically linked to a Uniform Resource Locator (URL) so that you can use the illustration in a Web page as an imagemap. Clicking the image in the browser takes you immediately to the desired URL. To assign a URL to a path or group of objects, do the following:

  1. Select the paths or group of objects.

  2. Choose Window, Show Attributes (see Figure 29.12).

Figure 29.12. The attributes palette allows you to enter the URL to a given object within an Illustrator design.

  3. Choose Show All from the Arrow in the upper-right corner to expand the Palette.

  4. Type in the complete URL, for example, http://www.molly.com/.

  5. Press the Return or Enter key.
