Z Order

One of the most compelling aspects of style sheet positioning is that it introduces a third axis. So far, you've worked with the x- and y-axes, or horizontal and vertical. When you use the z-index property, as in the following example, the Z Order brings a third dimension, allowing for a dimensional relationship to now exist between elements:
