Working with Style Sheet Positioning

Using Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) properties is generally thought of as a method for controlling the physical appearance of HTML formatting, aspects such as the size of fonts or the background color of a page. One of the most powerful CSS properties, however,is positioning. This property gives you total, pixel-level control over the location of every element.

Whether these properties are assigned in a linked style sheet, an embedded style sheet, or via CSS values in the element tags, the results are the same: The kind of power that used to be reserved for high-end desktop publishing programs is finally available to the Web designer.
