Troubleshooting

Linearity

Q1:I want to create a site that moves from page to page without many links within the pages. I understand that this is a linear site. Is it going to upset visitors if I use strict linearity on the Web?
A1: The answer lies in the intent of the site. If you're creating a portal site, a page to page without many links is simply not going to work. However, if you're creating a guided tour where you want to bring your visitor from one piece in an art exhibit to the next in a precise fashion, the linear site will be absolutely appropriate.

Metaphor

Q1:Is metaphor necessary to create good sites?
A1: Many sites choose not to use metaphorical images to represent navigation elements. Instead, choosing words for the navigable content, such as New, About Us, and Contact, works perfectly well.
