Troubleshooting

Determining When to Develop Private Networks

Q1:The private network idea is appealing to me, as I have a growing company that must track inventory and keep communications open. We've used a variety of software in the past for billing and so forth. But how do I know it's the right time to begin developing?
A1: Intranet development should be part of the business plan. If it's not currently part of the plan, yet your instincts and business sense are suggesting it may well be time to begin such a project, it may be in your best interests to review your business plan. Then, run a focus group of employees. Listen carefully to their feedback. Almost always, people on the front lines of any company will have insights as well as strong ideas about how they can work more efficiently.
