Well-Formed Code

As you've already noticed, the exceptions and variations on these basic HTML fundamentals sometimes run into vague areas. This especially becomes problematic when using software applications that don't take the rules of HTML into account and throw out syntactical rules. Someone studying the output of a WYSIWYG application will often learn bad code.

Does this mean browsers won't properly interpret bad code? Not at all. Browsers tend to be forgiving of lousy code. Just as you and I tend to understand vernacular speech, a browser recognizes most sloppy code.
