Tags, Attributes, and Values

The central pillar of all HTML commands is the tag (sometimes referred to as an element). A tag is the identity of HTML, it says "do this." But tags become powerful with modification, and that modification begins with an attribute (also referred to as an argument).

Attributes are like verbs in that they promote activity—with them, the HTML tag can suddenly come to life and not only do something, but do it in a certain way.
