Choosing CGI Languages

Because the Common Gateway Interface does not refer to a specific programming language for coding applications for Web sites, you will need to choose one. Fortunately, you can use almost any programming or scripting language that will run on your Web server's machine. However, there are some points you should take into consideration when choosing a language.

When choosing the language to use for creating your CGI applications, you should first consider the languages with which you are familiar. Although some of the languages you might know, such as BASIC, might not be the best choice, most likely you also know a language that will be a good one. By using that language, you have saved yourself the time and effort of learning a new programming language to code CGI applications.
