Integrating Databases and ASP

Active Data Objects (ADO) has become the key to Microsoft's data access strategy. It is the first universal data access method that supports multiple database technologies and programming environments. You can use ADO in a straight VB, Java, C++ or other application, as well as in an ASP. ADO is comfortable in almost any environment.

There are other data access technologies with which you may be familiar. The first is Data Access Objects (DAO). This was Microsoft's standard for VB, Access, and other Jet-based environments. DAO is still in wide use today. It is ill suited for the Web and performs best in traditional client-server applications using JET.
