Using Pixel Shims

A shim in the physical world is a little piece of wood (or sometimes paper) that you stick under one of the legs of your table (for example) to make it stop wobbling. A pixel shim is a wedge of pixels, sometimes in color, that can be inserted between elements on a page to shore up the balance and alignment.
