Chapter 22. Layout: The Old Way

There are several deprecated and proprietary (X)HTML tags that apply to an entire page, instead of being limited to just a few words or paragraphs. I call these elements page layout features and restrict them to this chapter.

Included among these features are setting margins and columns, controlling the spacing between the elements on a page, changing the background color for the entire page, dividing a page into logical sections, positioning elements in layers, and determining when line breaks should, and shouldn’t, occur.
