Using Special Symbols

The symbols numbered 32 to 126—which include all the letters in the English alphabet, the numbers, and many common symbols—can be typed directly from the keyboard of any system. The symbols numbered 127 to 255 should be entered as described below.

To use special symbols:

1.
Place the cursor where you wish the special character to appear.

Type & .

Eithertype #n where n is the number that corresponds to the desired symbol or type name where name is the code that corresponds to the desired symbol (see pages 355 and 356).

Type ; .

5.
Continue with your HTML document.
