Chapter 14. Setting up Style Sheets > Creating Custom Block-Level HTML Tags

Creating Custom Block-Level HTML Tags

You can create a custom block-level HTML tag by adding a class or ID to the DIV tag and then defining the styles that it should apply.

To create a custom block-level HTML tag:

1.
In the STYLE section at the top of your HTML document or in an external style sheet, typeDIV.classname, where classname is the identifying word for the class you're going to use.

Or type DIV#IDname, where IDname is the identifying word for this particular instance of the DIV tag.

2.

3.
Create additional definitions, if desired, separating each with a ;.

4.
Add the final }.
