Non-Supported Images

While the major browsers can all display GIF, JPEG, and PNG images without much difficulty, you'll have to create a link to view any other kind of images with an external helper application.

To create a link to a non-supported image:

1.
Create an image and save it in the desired format with the proper extension. (See Table 12.1 on page 218.)

2.
In your HTML document where you want the image to appear, type <A HREF="image.ext"> where image.ext is the name of the image file on the server with the appropriate extension.

3.
If desired, use an icon to indicate the external image by typing <IMG SRC="icon.gif"> where icon.gif is the location on the server of the icon.

4.
Give a description of the image, including its size and format.

5.
Complete the link by typing </A>.
