Appendix C. Colors in Hex

Appendix C. Colors in Hex

You can choose the color for the background of your page as well as for the text and links. Both Netscape and Internet Explorer understand sixteen predefined color names: Silver, Gray, White, Black, Maroon, Red, Green, Lime, Purple, Fuchsia, Olive, Yellow, Navy, Blue, Teal, and Aqua. Some browsers also recognize Magenta (same as Fuchsia) and Cyan (same as Aqua). Consult the inside back cover for a look at these colors.

You can also specify any color by giving its red, green, and blue components—in the form of a number between 0 and 255. To make things really complicated, you must specify these components with the hexadecimal equivalent of that number. The table on page 359 gives the corresponding hexadecimal number for each possible value of red, green, or blue.
