Setting the Margins around an Element

The margin is the amount of transparent space between one element and the next, in addition to and outside of any padding (see page 280) or border (see page 279) around the element.

To set an element's margins:

1.
Typemargin.

2.
If desired, type -top, -bottom, -left, or -right, (with no space after margin) to limit where space should be added.

3.
Type : x, where x is the amount of desired space to be added, expressed in units or as a percentage of the width of the corresponding value of the parent element.
