Changing the Default Target

If a frame contains a link, the link will open up in that same frame, by default, unless you change the target as described on pages 181–182. You can change the default target for all of the links on a page by using the BASE tag.

To change the default target:

1.
In the HEAD section of the page that contains the links, type <BASE.

2.
Type TARGET="name", where name is the word that identifies the frame or window in which you want the links to appear, by default.

3.
Type > to complete the BASE tag.
