Chapter 2. Working Within the Flash Environment > Docking and Undocking Panels

Docking and Undocking Panels

You can dock and undock, or temporarily attach and detach, panels or panel groups in docking channels. A docking channel is a region located on the left and right side of the Flash window to which you can temporarily attach and detach panels. You can only dock tool panels in a docking channel. Document panels and the Stage cannot be docked to a docking channel. When you drag a panel over a dockable area, an outline around the target dock appears. When you release the mouse button, the panel snaps to the dockable area and stays there until you move it. If you attempt to dock a panel over an undockable area, no outline appears. When a docking channel doesn’t have any panels, the channel disappears until it is needed again.

Dock a Panel

1.
Position the pointer on the panel gripper (the textured area left of the tile in the header bar).

2.
Drag the window away from the panel to a docking channel.
