Chapter 13. Applying Timeline Effects > Converting Timeline Effects into Keyfra...

Converting Timeline Effects into Keyframes

Once you add a Timeline effect to a Flash object, the layer the effect resides in holds the frames required to display the effect. If you scrub the Timeline (drag the play head left to right), you can see the results of the Timeline effect, but you can’t access or edit the individual frames. Flash gives you the option of converting the Timeline effect into individual keyframes. This will give you frame-by-frame control over the effect (which is good), but you will never be able to modify the effect with Flash’s Modify Effect command.

Convert Effects into Keyframes

1.
Select all the frames in the effect layer.

2.
Click the Modify menu, point to Timeline, and then click Convert To Keyframes.

IMPORTANT Flash warns you that proceeding will prevent you from further editing the effects settings.

3.
Click OK.

Each frame on the Timeline now contains a keyframe that holds a portion of the original Timeline effect.
