Opening Sample Documents

The best way to learn about Flash is to view sample documents. When you installed Flash, you also installed some Flash sample files. These samples can give you ideas on how you can create rich media content with Flash. Some of the samples are complete applications, while others are independent sections. You can open the Flash document with the .fla extension to examine the project functionality, or you can open the Flash movie with the .swf extension to view the finished product.

Open a Sample Document

Click the File menu, and then click Open.

Navigate to the following location on your hard drive:

Macintosh. <Macintosh HD>\Applications\Macromedia\Flash MX 2004\First Run\ Samples\<samples folder>.

Windows XP/2000. <boot drive>\ Documents and Settings\ <user name>\Local Settings\ Application Data\ Macromedia\ Flash MX 2004\ <language>\Configuration\Samples\<samples folder>.

TROUBLE? If you don't see folders in Windows, change Folder Options to show hidden files and folders.

Click the sample file you want to open.

Click Open.
