Using Copy To Grid

The Copy To Grid Timeline effect lets you select an object and copy it over and over again, using a grid-like pattern to control the placement of the objects. Use the Copy To Grid effect to create a tiled pattern from a single shape, or use it to generate a maze-like array of similar elements. In fact, it's not necessary to limit this effect to one shape; you can select one, two, or as many shapes as you want to include within the grid.

Use Copy To Grid

Select one or more shapes.

Click the Insert menu, point to Timeline Effects, point to Assistants, and then click Copy To Grid.

Enter values in the Rows and Columns Grid Size input fields.

Higher values increase the number of objects in the grid.

Enter values in the Rows and Columns Grid Spacing input fields.

Higher values increase the space between items within the grid.

Click OK to add the effect to the Timeline.

Click the Control menu, and then click Test Movie.

Flash displays the Timeline effect.
