Chapter 5. Working with Text > Editing and Transforming Text

Editing and Transforming Text

You can use basic word processing techniques within Flash to edit your text. You can copy, cut, and paste within Flash and to other applications. Unfortunately, there is no spell checking. You have to copy Flash text into a word processing program to spell check it, and then copy it back if you make changes. The formatting of your text will be retained. Be sure to select and replace the original text when you copy corrected text back into Flash, or else a new text block will be created for the copied text and it will be at a different position and of different dimensions than the original.

Use the Text tool to select characters within text blocks. Click and drag to select multiple characters, or double-click to select an entire word. To make a long selection without dragging, click at the beginning and Shift+click at the end. To select all the words in a text block, press Cmd-A (Mac) or Ctrl+A (Windows).
