Chapter 8. Using Sound > Troubleshooting

Troubleshooting

Why do event sounds seem to have higher quality than streamed sounds?

You may notice that sounds synched to events sound better than streaming sounds. This is true because event sounds are fully downloaded before they begin to play, ensuring that all sound data is preserved. Streaming sounds begin as soon as they begin to download, and they must share bandwidth with images, animations, and video that are concurrently downloaded. Streaming sound takes priority, but some sound data can still be lost to ensure that the sound arrives on time.
