Optimizing Sounds

Because sounds can add significantly to the file size of your Flash movies, it is very important to optimize them. Optimization truly begins before you import your sounds. Flash provides modest sound-editing capabilities, so take advantage of sound-editing programs if you have access to them.

Sounds can be compressed individually and should be able to create the smallest possible files. To create individual compression settings, double-click a sound symbol’s icon in the Library, or Ctrl-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) and select Properties from the context menu to launch the Sound Properties dialog box, as shown in Figure 8.18.
