Video in Flash

For the first time in Macromedia Flash, MX offers true video support—the capability to embed and play video through the Flash Player without requiring any external plug-ins. Now video can be imported into Flash and transformed much like any other object. You can incorporate live action content such as corporate announcements, movie trailers, instructional videos, and news and sports coverage into your Flash movies.

As with other imported artwork, the quality of video in a published Flash movie depends on the quality of the imported video. Plan for how you will use video within Flash and edit it accordingly in a video-editing program prior to import into Flash. For best results, do not attempt to edit video within Flash. The file size of imported video remains the same in a published movie regardless of any editing that removes frames or content, just as with bitmaps that are scaled within Flash. As always, the goal is the highest quality with the lowest file size.
