Storing Information Locally

One of the most talked-about techniques for Flash 4 and 5 ActionScript developers was the way to communicate with JavaScript to set cookies on the user’s machine. This technique allowed movies to store information such as the user’s name or a best score for a game. However, because it used JavaScript, this technique didn’t work on all browsers.

Flash MX has a built-in way of storing small pieces of information on the user’s machine. This feature, called a local shared object, is similar to a JavaScript cookie but totally built into Flash.
