Chapter 7. Animating in Flash > Scrubbing Through the Timeline

Scrubbing Through the Timeline

Movement is the essence of animation, so previewing your animations in motion as you work is essential. Scrubbing refers to manually moving the playhead back and forth within the Timeline, allowing you to preview the progression of a movie. Simply click on the playhead above the Timeline, as shown in Figure 7.26, and move it across frames to preview them. A red line extends from the playhead down through frames in the Timeline to indicate the current frame. Scrubbing is especially useful for perfecting animation because it allows you to move through a movie as quickly or slowly as you choose, depending on how quickly you drag the playhead.

Figure 7.26. Click and drag the playhead, the red rectangle above the Timeline, to scrub through the Timeline.
