Using Shapes As Tools

Because Flash objects behave in particular ways relative to each other on the same layer, you can take these rules and use them to your advantage.

Earlier in the chapter, you ran through some exercises that demonstrated the changes that occur if you let two shapes occupy the same area on a canvas. These exercises were designed to warn you against inadvertently messing up your layout. But a little more consideration might prompt you to think about the upside. Now your geometric shapes can actually act as tools, letting you build more complex elements into your movie.
