A number of software packages let you develop, manipulate, and publish vector art. But just like Photoshop, Adobe has garnered most of the market with its Illustrator software.

Illustrator is a little like chess: You can learn how to play fairly quickly, but becoming a master can take considerable time. The software enables designers and artists to create complex vector-based illustrations for a variety of media. This makes it an excellent tool when you are working on a design campaign being executed both in the print world and online. Designers and interactive producers often work on projects that require taking traditional print elements and translating them to the Web.
