Chapter 13. Sound: The Fifth Dimension > Importing Sounds into Flash

Importing Sounds into Flash

There's not much difference between importing an audio file into Flash and any other objects, such as bitmaps, vector files, or even 3D files. Choose File, Import from the main menu and select either a specific file format, such as MP3, or the option to list all sound formats. After the file has been saved to the library, you can apply additional compressions or make modifications in the editor.

Sounds also can be shared across common libraries. Just like other objects, using one audio file in several places during the movie significantly reduces the total file size. In addition, you can share this file across several movies, again reducing the total load time.
