Using Different Sound Sources

Bringing sound in is almost as tricky as sending sound out. For most developers, this only briefly concerns them, and their gut reaction is to bring in a precompressed file—which these days is the popular MP3.

But using a precompressed sound file and assuming it will work for the final output can be dangerous. Anticipating how the file's previous compression will be affected by the next one is difficult. Working with MP3 files and making further adjustments on them can produce wild results.
