Introducing Dynamic Text

An integral part of any interface is text. Although graphics in an interface are extremely useful for identifying the purpose of an element, text can be used to reinforce identification.

You can use text to display a wide variety of information in a precise and concise manner. Although you can use a bar graph to show a value that can range from 0% to 100%, visually distinguishing between two similar values is often difficult. Seeing that the text value 54% is different from 56% is easier (see Figure 17.6).
