Chapter 26. Printing > Troubleshooting Printing

Troubleshooting Printing

  • The print (or printAsBitmap) command's first parameter is always relative to the root timeline. Use of a printing command inside a movie clip doesn't print the movie clip; it prints the root timeline of the movie.

  • Be specific about which level or movie clip you want to print. Use this to specify the current timeline, _root to print the main timeline of the current movie, and _levelx or the name of a movie clip instance to print the timeline of a loaded movie.

  • The Player actually "plays" frames offscreen to print them. As a result, sounds in frames that are printed are triggered during the printing process, resulting in multiple copies of the same sound playing or even in distorted sound playback.

Did You Know?

  • Printing to the Adobe Acrobat PDF writer always results in a bitmap image, regardless of whether the artwork in your movie is vector based.

  • Each frame you want to print must have its own key frame with the #p label.

  • The artwork in the #b frame itself is not printed.
