Troubleshooting Your Artwork and Text

  • Grabbing shape lines can be a problem if the shape is complex and has a number of bumps or kinks in the outline. Select the entire shape and smooth it to remove some of the variance, making it easier to grab the line.

  • Before you build a complex movie with dotted lines as your foundation, note that solid lines are significantly less complex and therefore require far less memory to describe them in your movie. If you use dotted lines in your presentation, it might be the reason your playback performance slows down.

  • You must have Adobe Type Manager (ATM) installed on your system (except for Windows 2000 users) to use PostScript fonts. Windows NT users might experience problems using ATM.

  • Text effects that work on the stage might not perform in the final movie if they are device fonts. Essentially, no way exists (yet) for Flash to handle the interpretation necessary between the local, machine font and the effects you have applied in Flash.
