Controlling the Standalone Player

If you're building standalone Flash applications or FLA files that will be played outside a browser or other program, you're using the Flash Player application. The Flash Player standalone application is a small application capable of displaying Flash movies, as well as making Flash self-executing (.exe on Windows and .hqx on Macintosh) files.

Unlike other hosts (browsers, Director, Authorware, and so on), the Flash Player doesn't do much other than play Flash movies, but it does have a few features your movies can control.
