Chapter 21. Controlling the Player > Using the System Date and Time

Using the System Date and Time

The passage of time is supplemented by the capability to read the date and time from the user's computer. The Date object gives you access to the system clock, as well as provides a method of calculating the difference between two times or dates.

The sample movie date.fla (see Figure 21.4) has four visible dynamic text variables: current, days, legend, and mill. The current variable displays the constantly changing date and time, updated every second or so. The days and legend variables show how many days have passed since the millennium. The mill variable shows when the millennium began.
