Chapter 29. Communication Between Flash ... > Using Flash/Director Communication

Using Flash/Director Communication

To begin, you'll create a Flash movie with a couple levels of movie clips. Each clip will pass a message to Director with the name of the instance as a parameter. The image of the Movie Explorer window in Figure 29.1 shows the structure of the movie (you also can open the file inside.fla). The root timeline contains the button inner button, the movie clip instance inner (made from the movie clip named inner), and a dynamic text object displaying the variable value. The inside clip contains the same items, but the movie clip instance is named inner and uses a different movie clip. The inner movie clip contains the dynamic text and a button.

Figure 29.1. The Movie Explorer shows the structure of the sample movie: a movie clip inside a movie clip on the root timeline.
