Working with Frame Rates

Chapter 1 briefly mentioned frame rates, which measure the number of frames Flash plays back each second (fps). Now that you have a general sense of animations and know how to build simple ones, the empirical results derived from changing the frame rate become more obvious.

With a ridiculously high frame rate, a six-frame animation zips by in an indistinguishable blur; set the frame rate too low and the animation snaps forward like pages turned in a storybook—nothing like a real visual effect.
