The Basics of Animation

In this section, you'll re-create the cell animation magic with Flash, animating a few cells of your own and running through the animation. Although these first animations are simple, they underscore some critical points that are universally applied, even to more complex development.

You can think about animation in the context of a Flash movie in several ways. First, the basic shapes that are either created inside Flash or imported from other media will turn on and off based on their positions in the timeline. As these elements appear and then disappear, the effect is a kind of animation in itself. Or rather, the playback of the frames in each layer changes the presentation.
