Using Functions

ActionScript functions come in two types. Procedural functions execute a series of statements and are used as statements; return functions are used in expressions and are replaced in the expression by a value returned from the function.

In an ActionScript action list, the difference between the two types of functions is easy to determine. A return function always contains a return statement, whereas procedural functions don't.
