Seminar Summary

This seminar covered the basics for setting up a form in Flash. You learned how to create both an input and a dynamic text field. You learned how to set up the font attributes for these boxes and how to embed a font outline. Instance names were assigned to each input text field so that communication could occur between the form and the back-end database or middleware application. You also used components for drop-down menus and radio buttons from the Component panel of Flash MX. You configured the variables and values of the component instances and then assigned an instance name to these objects. You added a Record button to the form and created a fictitious URL for communicating with a database on the hosting Web server. If you are familiar with form development with HTML, you are probably seeing that forms in Flash are very similar in both form objects and form communication methods. You should have a good idea of how to create a form in Flash and how to use the Flash UI components.

The next seminar covers more about ActionScript and teaches you how to use preloaders for controlling access to the main site until all the information of the main site has been loaded. You will create a conditional if...then loop and then test your movie in the Flash Player Testing Mode using the built-in Bandwidth Profiler.
