Communicating with a Text File or Server-Side Scripts

Connectivity between the front-end Flash form and a back-end application or database is accomplished through a script or middleware application. Middleware, such as XML, ASP, CGI, PHP, Tango, and ColdFusion, allows for queries and data relays back and forth from the Flash movie and a database. The middleware composes the data into the correct format that the database requires. By using the loadVariables or GetURL action, you can send the data (GET or POST) to the script, or middleware application. The data from each variable used in the form is transferred directly to the database, with information from each variable plugging into a database field coded with the same name. After the data is transferred, you can further manipulate it.

Note

Text files are often used to store the Flash form data. This allows the data to be easily accessible to other applications.
