Seminar 13. Enhancing the Site Interface... > Enhancing the Site with Masks, Drop-...

Enhancing the Site with Masks, Drop-Down Menus, and Random Animation

In this workshop, you will create a drop-down menu graphically as well as make Buzzy Bee’s eyes blink at random intervals. The drop-down menu requires the use of motion tweening to create the menu dropping down and rolling up, as well as a mask to create the illusion of the menu appearing as if it were rolling out of the Puzzle button. Making Buzzy Bee’s eyes blink randomly requires the use of frame-by-frame animation and the Math object actions of random() and floor(). First, you’ll create the drop-down menu.

Creating the Drop-Down Menu Symbol

To begin to create this new functionality for the Puzzle button, you need to create a symbol that will be the Puzzle button drop-down menu. This will be the menu that displays when the end-user hovers his mouse over the Puzzle button. This menu will link to just one movie, the Slider Puzzle.
