Seminar 3. Creating a Movie > Design Principles

Design Principles

Learning to use the Macromedia Flash drawing tools is a must for working with your Stage content and developing your site. Seminar 2, “Setting Up the Macromedia Flash MX Environment,” introduced you to the interface, panels, and tools of Flash. This seminar explores the features in more detail.

To begin the design process for a Web site, you need to consider many factors—such as whether the site should be fun, serious, sentimental, or all business. You also need to determine the overall message and feeling you want to communicate. You should explore creating a design that supports that message and is also pleasing to the eye. Another design consideration is usability—how the page is laid out, where the buttons link to, and so on. Colors and layout help in creating a successful design, but most winning Web sites are based on a well thought-out design that is useful to its intended audience.
