Testing Your Movie

As you develop the Timeline for a movie, you will need to test or check your work. Three techniques are available for testing your movie. You can test a movie in the Flash Authoring environment with two of the techniques—scrubbing through the movie and playing the movie. You can also test your movie in the Flash Player Testing Mode. The Flash Player Testing Mode is more powerful because it can play all the ActionScript and movie clips you include in your movie. The Flash Authoring environment can play only the main movie’s Timeline, has limited playback on ActionScript and buttons, and will not play a movie clip Timeline. More is covered on each of these techniques next.

Scrubbing Through the Movie

Flash MX offers a feature called scrubbing that allows you to check your Timeline progression one frame at a time. To scrub through your Timeline, click and drag the playhead left or right through the Timeline. This causes the Stage content to reflect the progression of the Timeline, simulating movement one frame at a time.
