Chapter 21. ASP and Flash > Getting the Server

Getting the Server

ASP will run on a Windows web server. If you have a web host, check with them to see if you are already on that kind of server and can run ASP. If not, you can run a local version on your PC:

  • Windows XP or Windows 2000— You will need to install the most up-to-date IIS (Internet Information Services) on your computer. The operating system comes with it, and you can access it by going to Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs, Add/Remove Windows Components.

  • Windows 98— You will need to install a PWS (Personal Web Server), which comes with the NT 4 option pack. If you do not have this already, you can get it from http://www.microsoft.com/ntserver/nts/downloads/default.asp.
