Summary

This hour, you studied two ways to optimize Flash movies. You should optimize file size to make your movies download faster, and you should optimize performance so that they play more consistently. The Bandwidth Profiler and the Generate Size Report option allow you to analyze your movies in several ways. You can use them to simulate download speeds and identify areas in your movies that need extra attention.

In this hour the optimization process was also applied to performance. Even though your movies might consistently play at high frame rates, such as 30 fps, on your machine, they might slow down on your users' machines. Although there's no sure way to see how your movies will look (except to actually try them on other machines), the basic approach to performance optimization is to simply know what types of effects and techniques tend to slow down computers and try to avoid them.
